Exercises :D
Exercise 1
We were taught the basics of masking in photoshop and did some warmup exercises to get used to it. After that, we were tasked to find three photoshop compositions that caught our attentions on Pinterest. These were the images I chose:
Fig 1.1 Pinterest finding 1 - I personally liked the minimal use of colors and the minimalistic theme of this image.
Fig 1.2 Pinterest finding 2 - I really liked the idea of the city/island floating inside a cup, I think it's pretty neat. The sky objects were a nice touch.
Fig 1.3 Pinterest finding 3 - This image just gives me a dreamlike whimsical feeling. You can probably tell I really like flowers. It tickles my brain a bit.
After finding Pinterest inspirations, we were then tasked to make three compositions using the provided images that Mr. Martin had sent through the google drive file and to choose one composition to submit.
I had decided to use the golden ratio and the rule of thirds grids as image aspects rather than only using it as a reference, which I thought was creative since I didn't think anyone else had done so. Mr. Martin decided on the second composition, and he suggested adding a shark inside the falling television.
This is the final composition:
Exercise 2
Mr. Martin explained to us the three basic blending modes and then did some exercises with it. During this, we edited a picture of Shazam into the Hearst Mansion and tried to blend him in with his surroundings so that it looked authentic.
I decided to give myself a little more challenge and place him behind an object, specifically the lamp and the ladder (?) things near the pool.
After this, we were then tasked to edit a picture of ourselves into the Hearst Mansion. We first had to take a picture of ourselves with our phone camera
After deciding to use the only picture I had (Because I couldn't be bother to take more), I then edited that picture into the Hearst Mansion. I unfortunately look different now, as during the time this task was assigned, I cut my hair after finishing it.
Like the Shazam image, I had decided to place myself behind an object, specifically behind a pillar and a lamp. That way, I could challenge myself still.
Exercise 3
We were taught how to recolor a black and white image, and did some exercises. Mr. Martin then provided us with a google drive with images to choose from to recolor.
I ended up doing this exercise earlier than intended due to a misunderstanding, but it was fine. I was then challenged to recolor the image of a lady smoking for extra points (Who doesn't love an extra grade), which I had tried to do painstakingly as I could, though I had no idea whether or not I did a good job at it, but I'm proud of the result.
I spent a while trying to figure out the smoke, to the point where my boyfriend, who was an early bird, had just woken up before I was even done, but I managed to do it eventually; I'm honestly just a sucker for dark purple backgrounds, which was why I chose to use dark purple.
